With regard to motivation and job satisfaction, employers have explored, studied, and discussed various concepts to improve both. Based on many workplace studies and surveys, factors that affect job satisfaction include the work environment and the corporate culture, as well as opportunities for career growth. An employee's ability to balance demands, both professional and personal, is also important. If an employee feels that an employer is meeting their needs in this regard, they are more likely to work within company standards or higher and are more likely to report satisfaction with their career choices.
Studies show that low motivation and job satisfaction adversely affect morale, employee attitudes and, subsequently, the desire or motivation to be productive. Dissatisfied employees have little reason to help an organization succeed and therefore have little motivation or interest in organizational goals. Focusing on increasing job satisfaction will encourage higher productivity, reduce employee turnover, and cut back on culpable absenteeism. Similarly, such measures not only improve attrition, absenteeism and productivity, but also improve the mental and physical health of employees, further reducing productivity issues related to invalidation issues and stress and job burnout.
Motivating employees and thereby increasing overall job satisfaction is as much an art as a science. Understanding human psychology equips managers, supervisors, and HR professionals to better address motivation and job satisfaction issues. Wage ratios, benefits, and physical workspace are examples of motivational factors related to external or external sources that, according to many workplace studies, have the least impact on motivation and result in the least job satisfaction. Alternatively, many studies have shown that personal or professional goals, such as self-esteem, instinctive motivation, employee motivation, and job satisfaction can have a major impact on challenging or interesting work. Therefore, employers who focus on self-motivation factors rather than external motivations are more likely to retain employees who report satisfaction with their work environment.
